  1. A:  I have concluded that there is a Canadian 
  2. communications history tradition. And the key 
  3. figures in this are Harold Innis and Marshall 
  4. McLuhan. They each make quite distinctive 
  5. contributions to the Canadian communications 
  6. history tradition. I think there‚Äôre others who are 
  7. associated with this, Eric Havelock, for example 
  8. was at the University of Toronto at a certain key 
  9. point and I think his work is very worth drawing 
  10. into that. But as far as the key figures, we‚Äôre 
  11. talking about Harold Innis and Marshall McLuhan. 
  12. Many of McLuhan‚Äôs critics attempted to write him 
  13. off as some derivative of Innis. I don‚Äôt believe that 
  14. is the case. I think that each man contributed
